বাংলাদেশের মোট আয়তনের ৩২ শতাংশ উপকূলীয় এলাকা। দেশের জনসংখ্যার ২০ শতাংশ এ অঞ্চলে বাস করে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের কারণে সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠের উচ্চতা ও লবণাক্ততা বৃদ্ধির কারণে উপকূলের মানুষের জীবন ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠছে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের প্রভাবের সবচেয়ে ক্ষতির মুখে পড়তে পারে এ অঞ্চলের মানুষ। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের সম্ভাব্য প্রভাব নিয়ে নিরন্তর মানসম্পন্ন গবেষণা দরকার।

" উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলে মনিটরিং, গবেষণা ও বিশ্লেষণ শীর্ষক আন্তর্জাতিক কর্মশালা " গত ১১ জুন রাজধানীর সিরডাপ আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রে দুই দিন ব্যাপী এ কর্মশালা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। ইনস্টিটিউট অব ওয়াটার মডেলিং, ডিএইচআই এবং ডেল্টারেসের যৌথ সহযোগিতায় এ আয়োজন করা হয়।

Workshop on Inception Report for the Consultancy Services for “Feasibility Studies and Preparation of Detailed Design for the following Phase (CEIP-2)”

Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) organized a Workshop on 08 February, 2022, Tuesday at 12:00 pm at Pani Bhaban.

Meeting Topic: Inception Report of Feasibility Studies and Preparation of Detailed Design for the following Phase (CEIP-2) under Coastal Embankment Improvement Project, Phase-1( CEIP-1).

Project officials, including Project Director and Team Leader of DDCS & PMS consultancy services among others, were present at the project areas before/ during landfall of cyclone 'YAAS' on May 26, 2021.

World Bank Country Director Ms. Mercy Tembon visited CEIP-1 Project Sites on February 16, 2020. The TTL, former ADG of BWDB and TTL of DDCS & PMS consultant team facilitated the visit.

PMU Representative (Environmental Specialist) handed over 3 Power Tillers for 3 Union of Polder 35/3 and 5 Power Tillers for 5 Union of Polder 35/1 on July 19 and July 20, 2021, respectively.
